Salt

This is a recent experiment with salt. Being an artist who works mostly with black and white, I thought it would be an interesting thing to try. It is somewhat inspired by the work of Motoi Yamamoto but is more permanent than most of his work. The salt was mixed with water then dripped onto a wood panel (Panted first with black acrylic). I then added a little of my engraving work (or electric engraving). Last I coated the work with some high-gloss acrylic varnish. This piece was part of the 2012 March ARTreach exhibition at the Torpedo Factory Arts Center, in Alexandria VA. This piece is a 10 inch square.

Regards,
Matthew Kiehl
